the skiing in mutters

Re-opened in 2006 after some of being the domain of ski tourers, the ski area of Mutteralm offers ideal terrain for the family or beginner to find their feet. The skiing is gentle and relaxed and there as many children on the slopes as adults. Views over the Stubai, Patscherkel and Innsbruck in the valley add the sunny aspect of the slopes. Not the biggest area but perfect for novices and families, with quaint alpine huts to eat in and an entirely modern ski lift infrastructure.

where to stay

The ski resort of Mutters is a picture postcard village, one of the best and prettiest that you will find. There is an absence of large hotels, instead the accommodation tends to be smaller and more family owned / run. The neighbouring village of Natters offers similar accommodation, whilst Gotzens in the other direction has the advantage of more accommodation, including hotels, more amenities and better après ski. The ski area of Mutters is connected to the ski village of Gotzens by a free ski bus, similarly, the ski area of Axamer Lizum is accessed by ski bus from Mutters village. Innsbruck down in the valley offers the widest choice of accommodation and amenities.

after dark / après ski

Mutters is a very attractive village but offers limited après ski beyond a number of attractive bar / restaurants. The neighbouring ski village of Gotzens offers far livelier bars with fairly good après ski as well as a large skating rink. Toboggan tracks run down to the village from the local mountain. City based entertainment is available in Innsbruck, a bus or tram linking the ski resort to the city in the valley below.
