Best suited to the intermediate, the ski area of Schlick and the ski resort of Fulpmes are easily reached from Innsbruck.
The skiing is contained in a magnificent rock bowl that towers above the ski area and forms a dramatic backdrop.

the skiingThe ski area is access by an equally dramatic routs up the ridge of the local moubntains with spectacular views into the Stubai Valley, to the Stubai Glacier and beyond into Italy. The ski runs from the top station feed down into the valley below which is a fairly flat coast to the main restaurant, the chair back up or the run our to the ski resort. There is a natural half pipe type feature on this section as well as the main learning area. Some way down the run back to the resort and before the mid ski lift station is a sign for an alm. Many times each hour a piste groomer rolls up, turns around and despatches a series of water ski type ropes to drag the guests along a trail and to a remote mountain restaurant. The ride is free and the views spectacular. The ski area of Schlick is part of the Innsbruck area ski pass.
On-piste:
Best suited to the beginner or intermediate skier in a fairly small ski area. Ideal for families and those who enjoy the sun and magnificent views.
Off-piste:
Tree skiing is the best option and can be great in times of new snow. Taking the T-bar or the chair from the Alm in the valley, it is obvious to see where the best tracks are to be found.

where to stay
The local ski resort that serves the ski area of Schlick is Fulpmes, with a good range of accommodation. Staying further down the valley in Neustift gives a much wider choice of accommodation and also the option to ski the more local ski areas of Elferlift and the Stubai Glacier. You can stay in Innsbruck and easily ski Sclick. Free ski buses leave from all central hotles each day or there is the option of the mountain tram which runs through the city before winding up the mountain and arriving in the ski resort of Fulpmes. Slower but one of the most scenic rides you will experience anywhere.
after dark / après ski
The ski resort of Fulpmes has a few après ski bars and a toboggan track to entertain during the evening. However the resort is far quiter than Nesutfit, just up the valley or Innsbruck.
