the ski area in axamer lizumThe skiing best suits the intermediate and the resort of Axamer Lizum is ski in and ski out. The resort is now connected to the neighbouring area Mutters where gentle, family skiing is the norm.
From the ski area there are three resort runs down to Axams, Gotzens and Mutters, making the trip home to one of the holiday villages all the more pleasurable.
The resort has a terrain park located at the base station, with access to 2 T-bars (the bane of all snowboarders, but preferable to a walk) and skiing both above the tree line and through the forests.
On piste – the two Olympic runs of the mens and womens downhills form the nucleus of the skiing. There are two black pistes - one is a steep mogul run that descends from the Birgitzerkopfel mountain hut down to the resort, the other a long run down from the Axamer Kogel, finishing in the village of Axams.

where to stay
The ski resort of Axamer Lizum serves the city of Innsbruck as well as more locally, the villages of Axams, Birgitz and Gotzens. The visitor can stay in one of the resort hotels, in one of the holiday villages above Innsbruck and below the lift station or in Innsbruck itself. Free ski buses transport the visitor to the resort and back. Innsbruck offers all the city facilities that you need whilst the hotel villages offer the charm of traditional Austrian farming communities. The resort itself offers the convenience of location but has a more limited choice of accommodation.
after dark / après ski
In the resort there are hotel bars, an Alm (mountain hut) and a toboggan track to keep you entertained. The track is floodlit until midnight and it runs down to the village of Axams. A free toboggan bus or toboggan taxi service returns you to the resort. The villages of Axams, Birgitz and Gotzens have a wider choice of nightlife as well as access to other toboggan runs and the usual activities of bars, restaurants and bowling. There are two ice rinks and a semi-outdoor heated swimming pool with rapids. Innsbruck has all that the visitor would ever need as well as access to the many toboggan runs around the city. Buses also run to the nearby ski resorts of Kuhtai and Seefeld where night skiing operates.
